Job summary

Firstline Brands is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the daily accounting operations, including AP/AR, payroll support, and general ledger activities. You will ensure the integrity of financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and develop the accounting team.

You will partner with the Controller on budgeting, forecasting, and audit readiness, and act as the escalation point for complex transactions. CPA/CMA preferred; 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal control frameworks.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to manage, develop, and motivate a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and general ledger functions.
  • Direct the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
  • Own the month-end and year-end close process, setting the close calendar and holding the team accountable to deadlines.
  • Review reconciliations of bank statements and balance sheet accounts, resolving discrepancies and ensuring supporting documentation meets audit standards.
  • Design, implement, and enforce accounting policies and procedures that strengthen internal controls and improve operational efficiency.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for the annual audit, coordinating documentation requests, managing auditor relationships, and resolving inquiries.
  • Hire, train, mentor, and manage performance of accounting staff, building a team with strong technical skills and a culture of accountability.
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry practices, recommending and implementing process improvements.
  • Partner with the Controller on ad hoc financial analysis, system improvements, and cross-departmental initiatives.
