Job summary

LHH in Minnesota is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations, drive the month-end close, and serve as the primary resource on multi-state sales and use tax.

This hands-on leadership role focuses on solving complex accounting issues, improving processes, and developing a high-performing accounting team in Minnesota. Responsibilities include GL, AR, purchasing, cash management, and ensuring U.S. GAAP compliance while partnering with internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• CPA certification is required.
• 5+ years of accounting leadership experience.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and internal controls.
• Hands-on multi-state sales and use tax experience.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger, accounts receivable, purchasing, and cash management.
• Lead month-end and year-end close, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Ensure accurate accounting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Serve as the primary resource for multi-state sales and use tax.
• Manage sales and use tax compliance, filings, registrations, and payments.
• Research state/local tax requirements and monitor nexus obligations.
• Lead and develop accounting team members.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and close efficiency.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations, oversee the month-end close, and serve as the company’s primary resource for multi-state sales and use tax. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys solving complex accounting issues, improving processes, and developing a strong accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts receivable, purchasing, and cash management
• Lead month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules
• Support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash projections, and variance analysis
• Ensure accurate accounting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies
• Serve as the primary resource for multi-state sales and use tax
• Manage sales and use tax compliance, including filings, registrations, exemption certificates, reconciliations, and payments
• Research state and local tax requirements and monitor nexus obligations
• Support sales and use tax audits, notices, and inquiries
• Partner with internal teams on appropriate sales tax treatment and accounting processes
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and close efficiency
• Lead and develop accounting team members

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• CPA required
• 5+ years of relevant accounting leadership experience
• Strong general ledger, month-end close, reconciliation, and financial reporting experience
• Hands-on multi-state sales and use tax experience
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls
• Ability to research and resolve technical accounting and tax matters
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Experience

• Construction, project-based, or similar industry experience
• Experience with ERP and sales tax systems
• Accounting process improvement and automation experience
• Specialized sales and use tax training or certification is a plus
