Job summary

Conexus is seeking an Accounting Manager in Costa Mesa, CA to oversee day-to-day and month-end general ledger operations. You will lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, ensuring GAAP compliance and process improvements across the function.

The role reports to the Senior Accounting Manager and emphasizes scalability, technology initiatives, and collaboration with regional finance leadership to support multiple business units.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• General ledger accounting experience, including supervisory experience.
• Solid working knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience with ERP/accounting software systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process for assigned accounting functions.
• Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations prepared by the team.
• Analyze balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy; handle high-risk accounts.
• Supervise, train, and develop a team of accounting staff and supervisors.
• Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely audit workpapers and reviews.
• Partner with regional finance leadership to provide accounting support across units.
• Prepare monthly flux and trend commentary and ad hoc analyses.

Our client, a large privately-held, is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day and month-end general ledger operations. Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, this position will lead and develop a team of accounting professionals and plays a key role in scaling the accounting function through process improvement and technology initiatives. The ideal candidate must have prior supervisory experience in an operational accounting role.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process for assigned accounting functions
• Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by the team
• Analyze balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy and appropriateness, personally handling higher-risk or complex accounts
• Investigate and resolve significant accounting and reporting discrepancies
• Supervise, train, and develop a team of accounting supervisors, senior accountants, and staff accountants
• Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, ensuring timely audit workpaper preparation and review
• Partner with regional finance leadership to provide accounting support across business units
• Prepare monthly flux and trend commentary on financial results, along with ad hoc analyses as needed
• Drive process improvement and technology initiatives to support scalability and operational efficiencyDevelop and implement departmental policies, goals, and documentation standards
• Evaluate key contracts and complex arrangements for GAAP compliance
• Support the evaluation and adoption of new accounting pronouncements
• Help establish and strengthen internal controls over core accounting processes
• Support software implementation and upgrade projects within the accounting function
• Take on special projects and cross-functional initiatives as assigned by leadership

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• General ledger accounting experience, including supervisory experience is required
• Large Company experience ($600M+) is required
• Solid working knowledge of GAAP
• Experience with ERP/accounting software systems
