Job summary

Remedy Medical Properties, a leading healthcare real estate firm headquartered in Chicago, seeks an experienced accounting leader to oversee monthly financials, cash management, and reporting. You will supervise a team, collaborate with executives, and enhance departmental workflows.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in Accounting with 5+ years of accounting and 2+ years of supervisory experience, plus proficiency in Excel and Yardi.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience/education required.
  • 5+ years accounting experience.
  • 4+ years of previous real estate accounting experience required.
  • 2+ years of previous supervisory experience required.
  • Must be detail-oriented, accurate and reliable with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, business intelligence and presentations skills, including the ability to analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and develop/present actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrate experience in performing in-depth problem solving and translating that problem solving into analytical, logical, and coherent written communications.
  • Knowledge and expertise in real estate software, Yardi preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft based software, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Review the monthly financial statement packages and enforce all deadlines for accounting and financial statement distribution.
  • Oversee cash management, including approval of the issuance of checks and monitoring and maintenance of cash balances.
  • Interface professionally with building management and owner representatives on financial and operational issues.
  • Supervises a team of direct reports to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of all monthly financial information.
  • Collaborates with EVPs of Accounting, Assistant Controller, Senior Accounting Managers, and other Accounting Managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Provides training, coaching and counseling to new and existing team members as needed.
  • Works with each direct report to establish goals and objectives; monitors and advises on progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures and processes to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • Responsible for understanding, monitoring and altering workloads of team members.
  • Provides annual and mid-year performance evaluations for team members and input related to salary increases, bonuses, promotions, etc.
  • Addresses and documents personnel issues related to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
  • Escalates performance issues through the appropriate channels as necessary and participates in the design and delivery of Performance Improvement Plans if needed.
  • Participates in hiring process for new team members; reviews pre-screened resumes, interviews potential employees and provides input on hiring decisions for team.
  • Approves time-off requests and coordinates schedules of team members.
  • Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
  • Prepare/review annual escalation and settlement billings for CAM, RET and other applicable additional charges
  • Assist the General Manager in the preparation and review of the annual budget when needed
  • Responsible for key factors of the property including mortgages, real estate tax payments, capital draws and permanent asset work papers
  • Prepare the audit package for external audit and tenant operational audits, when required
  • Review accuracy of the commercial rent roll and stacking plan
  • Complete special projects as needed, including, but not limited to acquisitions, dispositions and refinancing
  • Communicate with Real Estate Tax consultants and/or legal counsel retained by ownership, if necessary
  • Review all monthly management fee billing/reimbursement information for payment by owner
  • Work with property management team on management of letters of credit

$100,000-$125,000 salary range, based on experience plus benefits and bonus
