Job description

Our client is a growing provider of engineered industrial components and power transmission solutions with a nationwide footprint and a strong reputation for technical expertise and customer service. The organization continues to expand through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions, creating an exciting environment for accounting professionals who enjoy building and improving processes.

Company Overview:

Our client is a growing provider of engineered industrial components and power transmission solutions with a nationwide footprint and a strong reputation for technical expertise and customer service. The organization continues to expand through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions, creating an exciting environment for accounting professionals who enjoy building and improving processes.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Manager will be a hands-on leader responsible for key general accounting functions, financial close processes, and internal controls across a growing, multi-location organization.

This individual will initially manage a Senior Accountant, with the opportunity to build out the team as the organization continues to grow. The Accounting Manager will also play an important role in the company's finance transformation initiatives supporting a migration to a new ERP system.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being a "player-coach" - developing people while remaining close to the accounting - and wants exposure to M&A, systems implementation, process improvement, and a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead key aspects of the monthly and year-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting reviews.
  • Oversee general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Manage and develop a Senior Accountant initially, with additional team growth anticipated as the organization expands.
  • Support inventory and cost accounting activities across multiple manufacturing, distribution, and operational locations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and stronger controls to improve close efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Play a key accounting role in acquisitions, including purchase accounting, opening balance sheets, and post-acquisition integration.
  • Partner with acquired businesses and operational teams to standardize accounting policies, close procedures, and reporting practices.
  • Research and evaluate complex or nonroutine accounting matters and communicate recommendations to accounting leadership.
  • Support tax accounting and compliance activities, including income, sales and use, and property taxes in coordination with external advisors.
  • Coordinate external audit activities and oversee preparation of supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Play an active role in the company's upcoming ERP transformation, helping consolidate four existing ERP environments onto a new enterprise-wide platform.
  • Support data validation, process design, testing, implementation, and ongoing optimization related to ERP and other finance systems.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience within multi-location manufacturing, assembly, distribution, or industrial environments.
  • Experience with M&A, purchase accounting, and/ or post-acquisition accounting integration.
  • Working knowledge of tax matters and experience supporting tax accounting activities via third-party partner.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable operating as a hands-on leader in a growing and evolving environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10-15%.
