Job summary

Mackie Myers in Southern California is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the F&B accounting across venues, building scalable processes and strong internal controls. You will manage AP/AR, journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly close, while providing insights on revenue drivers and cost controls to enable timely, accurate financial reporting.

You will collaborate with venues, events teams, and leadership to monitor budgets, support audits, and drive continuous process improvements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
• Experience across multiple legal entities and intercompany activity.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
• Demonstrated ability to direct, supervise, and develop staff while managing competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting function for F&B venues.
• Develop, document, and maintain accounting processes across multiple entities.
• Review and approve journal entries for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate support.
• Review and reconcile POS sales reports, recording revenue to the F&B general ledger by sales category, department, and event.
• Reconcile daily settlements between POS reports and bank statements.
• Prepare financial recap reports for events and venue operations.
• Reconcile intercompany accounts and resolve differences in a timely manner.
• Prepare and review monthly balance sheet schedules and account reconciliations.
• Assist with revenue and expenditure variance analysis and communicate key drivers.
• Ensure monthly and year-end close deadlines are met.
• Manage AP and AR activities, including timely processing, billing, collections, and issue resolution.
• Help enforce company spending policies and maintain effective internal controls.
• Manage cash flow activities and support liquidity planning.
• Assist with budget monitoring and analyse actual results against budget.
• Support ad hoc reporting, special projects, and other accounting initiatives.
• Support year-end financial audits and maintain fiscal files and records.
• Promote continuous process improvement across the accounting function

Our client operates a portfolio of live entertainment and dining venues and is investing significantly in the growth of its hospitality business, making this a strong opportunity for someone who wants to build and scale processes rather than inherit them.

About the Role

This is a full-time, exempt role based in Southern California. The Accounting Manager will oversee daily accounting operations for the F&B organization across all venues, with primary responsibility for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. The role involves developing scalable processes across multiple entities, enforcing company spending policies, maintaining effective internal controls, and supporting accurate and timely financial reporting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance
• Required experience working across multiple legal entities and intercompany activity
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong general Microsoft Office skills
• Experience with a major enterprise ERP system is a plus
• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting principles, financial reporting, GAAP, and internal controls
• Demonstrated ability to direct, supervise, and develop staff while managing competing priorities
• High attention to detail with a consistent focus on completeness and accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments
• Strong accountability and a track record of improving processes
