Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of general and accrual accounting.
  • Experience with GL, AP, AR, and payroll.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and account reconciliations
  • Assist with monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and management reports
  • Maintain ledgers and ensure accurate coding and recordkeeping
  • Prepare and analyze revenue, expenses, depreciation, and operating costs
  • Assist with event settlements and occasional evening work
  • Support audits by preparing schedules and documentation
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Support implementation and improvement of financial, payroll, timekeeping, and accounting systems
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency
  • Perform additional accounting and finance projects as needed

Job description

Our client is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of a high-volume live entertainment venue. This is a hands-on role with broad responsibility across general ledger accounting, AP, AR, payroll, financial reporting, and event settlements.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, resourceful, and comfortable working independently while collaborating with a small finance team. Strong communication, critical thinking, and a willingness to take ownership are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and account reconciliations
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and management reports
  • Maintain general and subsidiary ledgers and ensure accurate financial coding and recordkeeping
  • Prepare and analyze financial information, including revenue, expenses, depreciation, and operating costs
  • Prepare and assist with event settlements, including occasional evening work following events
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and requested financial information
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Support the implementation and improvement of financial, payroll, timekeeping, and accounting systems
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency
  • Perform additional accounting and finance projects as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including public accounting or financial management
  • Strong knowledge of general and accrual accounting
  • Experience with GL accounting, AP, AR, and payroll
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information
  • Self-sufficient, curious, and resourceful with a strong sense of ownership
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the organization
  • Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365
  • Experience with accounting software and financial systems
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is a plus
