Job summary

CFS, based in Boston, MA, is seeking an Accounting Manager to support the financial operations of a philanthropic and donor-advised fund program.

Responsibilities include overseeing daily accounting, journal entries, GL integrity, and month-end close, with future opportunity to supervise staff and drive process improvements. Hybrid work arrangement with 2 days in office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably nonprofit/fund accounting.
• Supervisory/lead experience preferred.
• Experience with donor-advised funds, endowments, or charitable programs a plus.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and accounting principles.

CFS has partnered with a mission-driven organization that makes a meaningful impact both locally and globally. Our client is seeking an Accounting Manager to support the financial operations of their philanthropic and donor-advised fund programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day accounting operations.
• Review and post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation of adjusting and closing entries.
• Manage reporting related to donor-advised funds, endowments, assets under management, and other philanthropic programs.
• Review contribution and disbursement activity, including wire transfers and fund distributions.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to provide financial analysis and ad hoc reporting.
• Coordinate audit requests and assist with annual external audit activities.
• Review donor reporting and account statements for accuracy.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
• Provide guidance and oversight to team members, with future responsibility for direct reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within nonprofit, financial services, or fund accounting environments.
• Previous supervisory, lead, or mentoring experience is preferred.
• Experience with donor-advised funds, endowments, or charitable giving programs is a plus.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical abilities, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and manage multiple priorities.
