Job summary

CFS is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations, ensure timely financial reporting, and support strategic financial goals. This hands‑on role requires leadership in a collaborative nonprofit environment.

You will manage month‑end and year‑end closes, prepare financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analysis, while strengthening controls and coordinating audits. A passion for impact and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and audit processes.
• Excellent leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Hands‑on approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and organizational policies.
• Coordinate audit preparation and work closely with external auditors.
• Partner with leadership and department managers on budgeting and financial planning.
• Monitor financial activity and provide insights into trends, variances, and opportunities.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
• Ensure accurate accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and reconciliations.
• Support process improvements and help strengthen the organization’s accounting and financial procedures.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Preferred Qualifications For The Accounting Manager

• Previous Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or senior‑level accounting experience
• Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and audit processes
• Excellent leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Hands‑on approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment
