Peterson Cat has an immediate need for an experienced Accounting Inventory Clerk based at our San Leandro, CA location. The role involves clerical accounting tasks under supervision, focusing on inventory-related costs and AP processing.

Under general supervision, you will post transactions, maintain filing systems, and coordinate with accounting personnel across three companies. Excellent communication and team collaboration are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent; six months to one year related experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Experience with accounts payable or inventory-related accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vendor Accounts Payable for inventory-related costs.
• Match PO approvals with vendor billings/invoices for payment processing.
• Post transactions to the Transaction Register and A/P system affecting assets and inventory valuation.
• Maintain accounting filing systems (hard and soft copy).
• Handle internal and external calls and correspondence as required.
• Identify and reconcile vendor account discrepancies and update procedures.

Peterson Cat has an immediate need for an experienced Accounting Inventory Clerk based at our San Leandro, CA location.

Summary

Working under general supervision, performs clerical accounting functions where some judgment and independent action is required. Primarily works under guidance of general accounting personnel.

Essential Job Functions

• Prepare vendor Accounts Payable, primarily for inventory‑related costs.
• Match approved purchase orders with vendor billings/invoices; prepare data for processing payment.
• Compile and post transactions to both the Transaction Register and into the A/P System, to designated accounts. These high dollar transactions affect company assets and inventory valuation.
• Maintain accounting filing systems (hard copy and soft copy) as needed.
• Place and respond to internal and external phone calls; process correspondence as required.
• Perform related duties and functions as required by the general accountants of three separate companies. Each company requires different entry/handling methods.
• Identify and reconcile vendor account discrepancies.
• Maintain/update procedures for assigned accounting function.

Education and/or Experience

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school and six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The pay hourly pay range for this position is: $28.85–$33.50. We also offer a total compensation package in addition to base salary.
