Job summary

Pattern Energy is seeking an Accounting Intern to join our San Francisco office, supporting day-to-day accounting, reporting, and process improvement initiatives. You will gain exposure to automation tools and data-driven workflows while developing traditional accounting skills.

The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams, development of automated processes, and a summer project with findings and recommendations presented at the end of the internship.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Coursework or practical experience demonstrating familiarity with fundamental accounting concepts.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and working with financial data.
• Familiarity with workflow automation, data analytics, or process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Support the Accounting team with day-to-day accounting activities, analysis, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Review existing accounting processes and identify opportunities to reduce manual work, improve efficiency, and strengthen data accuracy.
• Assist with the development, testing, and documentation of automated accounting workflows.
• Work with tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power Query, Power Automate, and AI-enabled productivity tools, as appropriate to assigned projects.
• Partner with Accounting and cross-functional stakeholders to understand current processes, pain points, and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare and present findings, process improvements, and project outcomes to members of the Accounting team.
• Complete a meaningful summer project and present findings and recommendations at the conclusion of the internship
