Job summary

Loews New Orleans Hotel seeks an Accounting Generalist to support daily financial operations and collaborate with the Finance team. This on-site role involves handling cash, processing deposits, and assisting with reporting and controls.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality or related field, with strong attention to detail, Excel skills, and a proactive approach to accuracy and issues resolution.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking required.
  • Proficiency with Excel and data reporting is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ad hoc accounting activities to support operations and Financial Director.
  • Bank deposits, cash handling, and petty cash management across front desk, bar, and restaurants.
  • Prepare and distribute department reports and maintain filing systems.
  • Assist in inventory counts and vendor/purchase order processes.
  • Ensure licenses and permits are renewed on time and tracked.
  • Transmits checks and daily logs to shared services for posting.
  • Support month-end and quarterly close activities and audits.
  • Attend meetings and assist with special finance projects as assigned.

Help explain financial matters and collaborate on budgeting or auditing issuesTechnical Proficiency-Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Excel), data entry, and reporting. Knowledge of financial regulations and principlesVeterans and military spouses are encouraged to applyWhat You Will Do:Perform ad hoc accounting activities in support of operations and Financial DirectorBanking and auditing the cash boxes (front desk, bar, restaurants, etc.), daily deposit to bank, and petty cashOrganize and distribute paychecks as directedAttend pre-convention meetings and client billing review meetingsPerform storeroom/receiving activities as appropriate according to accepted procedures, verifies receipt of materials and supplies as specified on purchase order documents; places materials received into appropriate storageEnsure all hotel licenses/permits are renewed on a timely basis; tracks expiration dates and notifies management of deadlinesTransmits copies of checks and daily check log to shared services for proper postingBring cash and checks to local bank for daily depositAssist in the preparation and distribution of reports generated by the departmentEstablishes and maintains files and distribute information, mail to shared servicesObtain data and information necessary to assist in responding to inquiriesAnswer incoming phone calls, directs calls to appropriate department as necessaryAssist in the completion of special projects as assigned by the Finance DirectorAssists in the completion of computerized receiving reports and transmission of receiving documentation to appropriate parties (defined in procedures)Assists in the performance of monthly quarterly and annual inventories as appropriateRegular attendance in conformance with standardsMay be required to work varying schedules to reflect business needsRequired to attend all mandatory training sessions and meetingsPerform other duties as assignedYour Qualifications Include:Associates Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality or other business-related field of study preferredExperience in Hospitality Accounting and or income/night audit management a plusWho You'll Supervise:Accounting Generalist is an individual contributor roleLoews Hotels & Co is an Equal Opportunity Employer that does not discriminate on the basis of actual or perceived race, color, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, sex or gender (including pregnancy, childbirth and pregnancy-related conditions), gender identity or expression (including transgender status), sexual orientation, marital status, military service and veteran status, physical or mental disability, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state or local laws and ordinances.
