Job summary

Back Market, a global marketplace for refurbished devices, is hiring an Accountant Apprentice in Paris. You will gain hands-on exposure to accounts payable, monthly closings, and financial tools in a fast-paced, international environment.

Reporting to the Head of Accounting, you will own accounts payable end-to-end, support monthly closings, and contribute to process improvements while enrolled in a French work-study program.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a French work-study program (contrat d'alternance / apprentissage).
• Location Paris, France for an apprenticeship in accounting.
• Fluent English required with French at least B2.

Responsibilities

• Own accounts payable end-to-end — manage invoices, PO matching, supplier requests, conformity checks.
• Keep open orders in check — analyze outstanding POs and resolve timely.
• Be a key contributor to monthly closings — accruals, prepaid expenses, deferred costs.
• Manage auxiliary supplier accounts — reconcile and ensure accuracy.
• Champion the expense management tool — updates, postings, day-to-day ops.
• Drive continuous improvement — enhance processes for faster, smarter accounting.

Back Market's Finance team is at the core of our growth engine, ensuring the financial integrity of a rapidly scaling global marketplace. As part of the Accounting team, you will report directly to the Head of Accounting and play an active role in our day-to-day accounting operations and continuous process improvement.

As an Accountant Apprentice, you will get hands‑on exposure to accounts payable, monthly closings, and financial tools management in a fast‑paced, international environment. You will combine analytical rigor with operational excellence to help keep our books tight and our processes smarter.

YOUR MISSION (IF YOU ACCEPT IT):

• Own accounts payable end-to-end — manage provider invoices matched with purchase orders, handle supplier requests, and perform conformity checks with analytical imputation

• Keep our open orders in check — analyze outstanding purchase orders and ensure timely resolution

• Be a key contributor to monthly closings — participate in accruals, prepaid expenses, and deferred expense calculations and postings

• Manage auxiliary accounts — analyze and reconcile supplier accounts to ensure accuracy

• Champion our expense management tool — handle organizational updates, transaction accounting, and day‑to‑day operations

• Drive continuous improvement — proactively identify and implement process enhancements to make our accounting operations faster and smarter

YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE IF:

ABOUT THE APPRENTICESHIP

• Starting date: October 2026

• Duration: Ideally for 24 months (12 months to be discussed).

• Location: Paris, France

• Contract: You must already be enrolled in a work‑study program in a French school (contrat d'alternance / d'apprentissage)
