L’Anse Creuse Public Schools is seeking an Accountant to manage district accounting, fixed assets, and grant reporting, reporting to the Supervisor for Finance. The role requires strong Excel skills and AS400 experience.

Responsibilities include month-end entries, bank reconciliations, payroll reporting, 1099/W2 processing, and assisting with audits. Must have 2-5 years district finance experience or a related degree.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting and 2-5 years of school finance experience.
  • Associates degree in business with 2-5 years district accounting experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and MS Office; AS400 experience preferred.
  • Alternatives to above qualifications may be acceptable per Board of Education.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain fixed assets accounting for the district.
  • Assist with federal, state, and local cost reports.
  • Prepare 1099s and assist with W2 processing.
  • Support payroll reporting and 403(b)/457 uploads.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries for governmental funds.
  • Reconcile bank statements as needed.
  • Manage AS400 tasks and district budgeting reports.
  • Assist with grants reporting and annual audits.
  • Oversee procurement card reporting and GL cost adjustments.

Salary: $63,343.99 – $66,677.88 per year

POSITION TITLE: Accountant

REPORTS TO: Supervisor for Finance

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for the accounting of fixed assets for the district.
  • Assists Supervisor for Finance on completion of federal, state and local cost reports.(SE-4096, SE-4094, etc)
  • Preparation of 1099’s and assists with W2 processing
  • Assist with payroll reporting activities such as payroll taxes, 403(b)/457 upload process.
  • Prepares month end journal entries for the various governmental funds.
  • Assists with bank reconciliations, as needed.
  • AS400 activities such as vendor maintenance, FID allocation maintenance, etc.
  • Assist with preparation of budgets and reporting for assigned grants, process adjustments and works with Accounting Coordinator and Supervisor for Finance to assure adherence to grant requirements of federal, state and local agencies.
  • Assists with annual audit on assigned areas.
  • Assists with managing platforms such as Schoolpay, Square, Eleyo, Ref Pay, etc
  • Responsible for cash receipts, accounts receivable and prepares year-end receivable and deferred revenue reports.
  • Assist with Purchase Cardreporting
  • Responsible for working with departments/buildings to process in AS400 budget transfers, general ledger cost adjustments, budget uploads, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting with 2-5 years school finance experience preferred
  • Minimum of an Associates degree in business with 2-5 years of school district accounting experience required
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, pivot tables, etc) and other Microsoft applications. AS400 experience preferred.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of mangers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Proficiency with micro computer applications and office supervisory experience required. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
