Job summary

CFS is assisting a longtime client in Saint Louis Park, MN to hire an accountant for general accounting work in a supportive team environment. The role covers AR/AP, payroll, rental collections, and related financial tasks, with GAAP reporting and agency coordination.

The ideal candidate has a 4-year degree in accounting/finance and 2+ years of experience, strong Excel, and familiarity with government accounting. Hybrid work with 3 days in-office is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Experience with governmental accounting (HUD) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handle accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and rental collections.
• Prepare financial statements and reports per GAAP.
• Provide information to contractors, financial institutions, and the public.
• Prepare statistical and narrative reports for Federal and State agencies.
• Assist in budgeting information for operating budgets.
• Perform other related duties as required.

About the Job: General accounting work in a great environment

• Performs work in the functional areas of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, rental collections, and related financial areas
• Prepares financial statements and special financial reports according to generally accepted accounting procedures
• Provides information to contractors, financial institutions, and the public
• Prepares statistical and narrative reports for Federal and State agencies, and coordinates with said agencies as needed
• Assists in the collection and preparation of budget information for preliminary planning of the operating budget
• Performs other related duties as required

Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable, teachable, and positive

• Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting, Business, or Finance preferred)
• 2+ year(s) of accounting experience
• Strong Excel skills
• Competency with journal entries and bank reconciliations
• Ability to apply general accounting theories and practices in governmental accounting practice
• Graduate work or HUD accounting experience a plus!

Compensation:

• $66,000 - $74,000
