Our client is an organization in the Minneapolis area looking for a Senior Staff Accountant. Our client is looking for someone with well-rounded accounting experience, a hands-on approach, and the ability to take ownership of day-to-day accounting activities. This individual will serve as a key accounting resource for the operation and will be responsible for a broad range of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related functions.
The salary range for this position is $65k-80k.
The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary resource for detailed accounting activities for the assigned business operation.
- Prepare and post journal entries as part of the monthly financial close process.
- Perform account reconciliations and research discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Manage accounts payable activities, including invoice processing and payment-related responsibilities.
- Monitor accounts receivable balances and follow up on outstanding customer accounts.
- Review payroll information and perform payroll balancing and reconciliation activities in coordination with centralized payroll resources.
- Maintain accurate general ledger records and supporting accounting documentation.
- Assist with monthly financial reporting and investigate unusual account activity or variances.
- Work within the organization's ERP and financial systems to process transactions and maintain accounting records.
- Partner with operational and corporate teams to resolve accounting questions and ensure financial information is complete and accurate.
- Maintain ownership of assigned accounting responsibilities from initial transaction through reconciliation and reporting.
- Support audit requests and prepare financial schedules and documentation as needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and overall efficiency.
- Assist with additional accounting projects and responsibilities as business needs evolve.
The Senior Staff Accountant will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 2-3+ years of hands-on accounting experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with journal entries, month-end close, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll-related accounting.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on accounting experience will be considered.
- Experience working in a hospitality environment is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience serving as a well-rounded accountant within a smaller or decentralized business environment is a plus.
- Experience with ERP or financial accounting systems required; exposure to Oracle-based systems is beneficial.
- Experience with payroll or HRIS platforms is preferred.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation processes.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently manage day-to-day accounting responsibilities and take ownership of assigned areas.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with operational and corporate teams.
