Job description

About the Company

Our client is a well-established mechanical construction company with over 40 years of experience delivering peace of mind through superior building systems service. They serve as a trusted partner across all areas of mechanical systems — from initial construction and installation to preventative maintenance, service, and repairs. Their knowledgeable team of highly-trained technicians are committed to ensuring issue-free equipment performance.

Core Service Lines
  • Building Automation Systems
  • HVAC Commercial & Industrial Service
  • Preventative Maintenance
  • Mechanical Construction

Guided by four core values — Do What’s Right Not What’s Easy, Live with Fierce Passion to Serve, Go Beyond the Norm, and Grow with Purpose — and operating on EOS, this team moves fast, values collaboration, and holds themselves to a high standard of integrity in everything they do.

About The Role

Our client is growing and looking for a Senior Accountant to join their finance team in a brand-new role. This is a high-impact, hands‑on position where you’ll work directly alongside the Controller to keep financial operations running smoothly across all three lines of business. You’ll support accounts receivable, collections, journal entries, sales reporting, and more — with the opportunity to grow into increased responsibility over time.

This is a collaborative, roll‑up‑your‑sleeves environment. You won’t just own a narrow task list — you’ll be someone the whole team leans on. If you thrive in a lean, team‑first culture and want a role you can truly make your own, this is it.

What You’ll Do
Core Responsibilities
  • Manage accounts receivable reporting and lead collections follow‑up across all three lines of business
  • Prepare and analyze sales reports by line of business (service, construction, and controls)
  • Maintain job cost reporting — tracking actual vs. estimated costs by job, phase, and cost code
  • Prepare and update Work in Progress (WIP) schedules, including overbillings, underbillings, and percent complete calculations
  • Assist with month‑end close, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Monitor and support sales tax compliance across project types, navigating materials vs. labor distinctions
  • Manage subcontractor documentation including lien waivers and certificates of insurance
  • Support ERP transition from Computer Ease to Access Coins, including data migration and process documentation
  • Contribute to process improvements and identify efficiencies as the role and company continue to grow
Cross‑Training Responsibilities
Role
  • Large job and service billing, including customer invoicing workflows
  • Accounts payable processing, vendor setup, and invoice coding
  • Payroll support, including familiarity with union payroll requirements across many different unions
Qualifications
Required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong working knowledge of AR, collections, journal entries, and month‑end close
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ability to learn new platforms quickly
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team‑first mindset
Strongly Preferred
  • Experience in construction, mechanical contracting, or a related industry
  • Familiarity with job costing and multi‑line‑of‑business accounting
  • Experience with construction ERP platforms (Access Coins, Computer Ease, or similar)
  • Familiarity with EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) or similar business operating frameworks
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred; equivalent experience considered.
