Job description

We are looking for a Jack-of-all-Trades type of Senior Accountant professional, for an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing small company, based in the Twin Cities. This is a hybrid position. Local candidates are strongly preferred.

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting activities, month-end close, financial reporting, and analysis of the financial statements.

This position will get to help support, and lead, in the creation of accounting policies and procedures, as well as ensuring compliance with GAAP

Responsibilities

• Work closely with all areas of the business
• Prepare and review journal entries, complete ledger account reconciliations, and financial statements
• Lead and manage the month-end close process
• Assist with quarter-end and year-end close processes
• Analyze financial data and prepare financial reports to support decision-making processes.
• Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff
• AP + AR - Invoice customers & apply payments
• AP + AR - Enter bills & item receipts
• Track, manage and improve inventory and the inventory system
• AP - Cut checks and initiate electronic payments + reconcile bank and credit cards
• Support tax activities
• Other duties as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or a related field
• Five or more years of accounting experience, including general ledger reconciliation and journal entries creation and monthly close
• Understanding of GAAP
• Previous monthly close experience over full P&L preferred
• Ability to commute
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team and help others with duties as needed
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and vlookups
