Swoon is hiring for our Gas & Energy Utilities client in Houston, TX. This will be a hybrid role with 1x a week onsite.

This is a 12-month contract opportunity with benefits — health, dental, & vision (50% of premium covered for contractor).

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and Excel-savvy Accountant to support daily and monthly financial operations in a high-volume environment. Responsibilities include reconciling cash transactions, identifying exceptions, and contributing to accurate month-end reporting. Candidates should have strong analytical skills, experience with journal entries, and a proactive approach to metrics reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Reconcile daily cash received from subledger to general ledger
• Perform bank and cash reconciliations
• Identify transaction outliers and resolve exceptions using Excel
• Prepare and book approximately 15 journal entries during month-end close
• Assist with AR/AP activities as needed
• Track and report KPIs and operational metrics
• Support forecasting by analyzing revenue, costs, and obligations trends
• Report on financial status and provide insights for resource optimization
