The role

The Senior Accountant / Controller will oversee all accounting functions and financial reporting for ChicknLegs. This role will manage day‑to‑day accounting operations while also helping build financial systems, improve processes, and support leadership with financial planning and analysis.

This is a hands‑on role ideal for someone who enjoys both executing accounting work and building the finance infrastructure of a growing brand.

Accounting & Financial Operations

• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process
• Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports
• Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards
• Maintain internal financial controls and documentation

Ecommerce & Inventory Accounting

• Manage revenue recognition across e-commerce and wholesale channels
• Track inventory valuation, cost of goods sold (COGS), and margins
• Reconcile payment processors and e-commerce platforms such as Shopify
• Maximize product profitability and minimize operational costs
• Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
• Monitor cash flow and working capital
• Provide insights into growth opportunities and cost efficiencies

Systems & Process Development

• Build and improve scalable accounting processes
• Manage accounting software such as QuickBooks
• Implement financial tools and reporting systems as the company grows
• Support automation of accounting workflows

Compliance & External Coordination

• Coordinate with external CPA firms, tax advisors, and auditors
• Support tax filings, audits, and regulatory compliance
• Ensure accurate documentation for financial reviews and reporting

Ideal Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5–8+ years of accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
• Experience with accounting platforms, ideally QuickBooks
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment
• Experience in e‑commerce, apparel, or consumer goods companies a plus
• Experience with inventory accounting and multi‑channel sales
• Experience helping build finance functions in a growing company
• Comfortable providing financial analyses and guidance
• CPA certification or CPA‑track
