Job description

Help build financially strong communities.

At Neighborhood Management, our Accountants do more than prepare reports—they partner with Community Managers and Boards to provide the accurate, timely financial information our clients rely on to make good decisions.

As an Accountant, you’ll manage the financial reporting for a portfolio of community associations, reconcile accounts, support the budgeting process, and help identify opportunities to improve the way we work.

If you’re analytical, detail-oriented, proactive, and enjoy solving problems while working as part of a collaborative team, we’d love to meet you.

What You’ll Do

You’ll manage the accounting responsibilities for an assigned portfolio of community associations while partnering with Community Managers and other members of the Accounting team to provide exceptional service to our clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the financial accounting and reporting for an assigned portfolio of community associations.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance explanations for clients.
  • Prepare and record journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger accounts.
  • Monitor cash flow and bank account balances, including FDIC coverage requirements.
  • Research account discrepancies and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner.
  • Partner with Community Managers to answer accounting questions and resolve financial issues.
  • Assist with the annual budget preparation process for assigned communities.
  • Support the onboarding of new communities, including the transfer and reconciliation of General Ledger and Accounts Receivable balances.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and help implement more efficient workflows.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality of client, homeowner, financial, and company information.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For

You are someone who:

  • Is analytical, organized, and highly attentive to detail.
  • Takes ownership of your work and follows through.
  • Enjoys researching discrepancies and solving problems.
  • Can manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with both accounting and non-accounting professionals.
  • Enjoys collaborating with others while also being comfortable working independently.
  • Looks for ways to make processes better, not simply repeat the way they’ve always been done.
  • Brings a service mindset to accounting and understands that accurate, timely financial information is an important part of the client experience.
  • Is comfortable learning and working with new technology.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Five (5) or more years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • HOA, community association, or property management accounting experience preferred, but not required.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working with accounting software, databases, and financial reporting systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
