Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in Sales/Logistics.
  • 3-5 years of outside sales experience required; candidate should be able to travel within territory.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; additional languages a plus.
  • Experience in NVOCC or freight forwarding sales strongly preferred.
  • Ability to develop relationships within assigned territory and grow shipments.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop an assigned account base in the Pacific Northwest and Northern California markets, including Seattle, Portland, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Grow account production by closing new business across all ECU Worldwide service categories.
  • Develop relationships with key accounts to increase cooperation and shipment volumes.
  • Follow up on weekly quote data for large-volume shipments and target trade lanes.
  • Contact and set up new accounts with contacts, rates, and system credentials.
  • Research market trends and perform client analysis to uncover opportunities.
  • Respond to foreign agent sales leads and pursue follow-up.
  • Spend the majority of the workweek meeting clients face-to-face within the territory.

Job description

The Account Executive for a Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) is responsible for managing client relationships, driving sales, and promoting logistics solutions. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, understanding customer needs, and providing tailored services to enhance client satisfaction. The Account Executive will collaborate with operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery, maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, and contribute to achieving sales targets. Strong communication, negotiation skills, and a background in logistics or freight forwarding are essential for success in this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and develop an assigned account base to cultivate opportunities in the Pacific Northwest and Northen California, Including the Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco Bay/ Bay Area Markets
  • Grow account production by closing new business in all service categories offered by ECU WW (i.e. Exports- LCL/FCL/AIR/Project Cargo. Imports - LCL/FCL/AIR, ECU Trucking, etc.)
  • Develop relationships with key/target accounts in an effort to increase cooperation and shipment volumes from these key clients.
  • Follow up on weekly quote data for large volume shipments and target trade lanes.
  • Follow up with customers to discuss and address any concerns
  • Assist and contact new accounts opened in system. Set up those accounts with contacts, rates and other necessary credentials needed to successfully work with ECU WW systems and departments.
  • Research market and industry trends, as well as perform client analysis to uncover new opportunities
  • Respond, qualify and follow up with foreign agent's sales leads
  • Spend the majority of the workweek conducting face-to-face customer meetings throughout the assigned territory.
Skills & Qualifications

In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must be organized, self-driven and demonstrate excellent communications skills. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • High School Diploma (required); Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales & Marketing or related field (strongly preferred)
  • 3-5 years of Outside sales experience (required)Intermediate or better proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English (written and verbal) required; fluency in other languages (strongly preferred)
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general industry documentation, terminology and communication.
  • Prior experience in the NVOCC/Freight Forwarding sales area (Strongly preferable)
  • Establish relationships within the assigned territory (strongly preferable)
