Job summary

The University of Houston is seeking a Coordinator for the Accessible Education Center to ensure equitable access for students with disabilities. The role coordinates accommodation services, oversees testing and assistive technology operations, and guides students through the accommodation process.

The Coordinator collaborates with faculty, staff, and external service providers to ensure compliance with disability laws and university policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Communications, Psychology, Sociology or Social Work.
• Minimum of three (3) years working with students with disabilities.
• Experience in education (K-12 or higher education) and knowledge of assistive technology.
• License/Certification: None required

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and manages disability-related accommodations and support services for students, including reviewing documentation and facilitating the interactive process.
• Oversees testing operations, exam scheduling, and security of testing materials.
• Coordinates specialized accessibility services such as ASL interpreters, live captioning, and other external providers.
• Serves as primary resource for accessibility concerns and accommodation implementation.
• Develops programs, outreach and educational resources promoting accessibility and student success.
