Job summary

The University of Lynchburg is seeking a full-time Assistant Director for Accessibility and Disability Resources (ADR) to lead and coordinate services for students with disabilities. The role ensures compliance with Section 504, the ADA, and ADAA while supervising the ADR Graduate Assistant and partnering with faculty and staff.

Responsibilities include evaluating documentation, coordinating accommodations, maintaining records, and providing direct student services.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of professional experience working with students, faculty, and staff at the post-secondary level.
  • Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the ADA Amendments Act, and related legislation in higher education.
  • Knowledge of psycho-educational tests and assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate documentation of disability and approve accommodations per ADA/504 for various needs.
  • Manage implementation of accommodations and coordinate with faculty and staff.
  • Maintain confidential records and FERPA-compliant data collection and reporting.
  • Support graduate assistant with test proctoring services for the caseload.
  • Coordinate student accessibility services like alternate texts, assistive tech, and accessible materials.
  • Provide academic mentoring and midterm outreach for students with disabilities.
  • Meet with prospective and incoming students and families.
  • Coordinate Braille production, sign language interpreters, and captioned videos as needed.
  • Provide year-round orientation support.
  • Assist with ADR email account oversight.
