Job summary

DePaul University's John T. Richardson Library in Lincoln Park seeks a Reference Librarian to provide research assistance and information literacy instruction for the first-year writing program, with weekday, weekend, or evening hours.

The role supports a collaborative and inclusive culture, cross-training at the Access Services desk, and participation in workshops and professional development.

The position is part-time (15–20 hours/week), fully on-site, with occasional travel to the Loop campus.

Qualifications

• Reference experience in an academic setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with academic library resources required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to communicate and interact inclusively across cultural identities.

Responsibilities

• Provides research assistance and one-to-one instruction online and in-person for the first-year writing program.
• Collaborates with library and university departments to serve faculty, students, staff and affiliated users.
• Creates and maintains online research guides and other instructional support.
• Supervises and mentors student workers; may open/close the Reference Department.
