Job summary

The University of Maine seeks a Technical Services Manager for Access Control to oversee campus security systems for residence halls, research facilities, and other entities. You will coordinate with Residential Life, Facilities Management, IT, Campus Security, and UMaine Police to align operations with safety goals.

This role emphasizes project management, independent judgment, and timely execution. A bachelor’s degree and 2–3 years' related experience are required, with a Low Voltage

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field and 2-3 years of applicable experience.
• Demonstrated experience in the electrical fields, including knowledge of instrumentation and control circuitry.
• Valid Maine driver’s license and be eligible to be authorized and approved as a university driver based on the Driver Administration Policy.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers and associated operating systems, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proficiency in communication technologies, including coax, fiber, network and RF distribution.
• Basic understanding of network communication protocols.
• Experience coordinating people, projects, and tasks to successful outcomes.
• Strong ability to exercise independent judgment, to take initiative, and to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with all levels of the University community.
• Low Voltage Electrician’s license to be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee technical services related to Access Control for Auxiliary Enterprises and other campus entities.
• Coordinate with Residential Life, Facilities Management, IT, Campus Security and UMaine Police to align safety goals.
• Ensure safety and security of students and staff on campus through effective access control.
• Lead project management initiatives and coordinate multiple tasks to deadlines.
