Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks a Mechanical Technician to support the Mechanical Design Engineering group for LANSCE accelerator maintenance and upgrades. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electro-mechanical equipment and assist with field work as needed.

Responsibilities include aligning magnets, supporting beamline work, and maintaining a spare parts inventory with comprehensive documentation in a safety-conscious environment at Los Alamos, NM.

Competenze

• Associates degree in electromechanical/mechanical or vacuum technology with minimum 3 years relevant experience.
• Associates degree in a related field with 5+ years experience for higher level role.
• Strong teamwork and ability to work independently in a research setting.
• Proven experience with hand tools and shop tools and safe work practices.
• Experience in diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, and hydraulic systems.

Mansioni

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair LANSCE accelerator mechanical systems (magnets, components, structures).
• Support beamline alignment and tracking activities.
• Operate general shop tools and assemble/disassemble components as required.
• Order spare parts and maintain an on-line spares inventory and maintenance log.
• Provide crane, forklift, and MMH support and follow ALARA and safety requirements.
