Job summary

Drake State Community and Technical College is seeking an I.T. Help Desk Assistant to staff the college Helpdesk, resolve basic to advanced user hardware and software issues, and document ticket information.

The role requires collaboration with IT staff, imaging workstations, and maintaining labs and network cabling. Salary placement ranges from $29,989 to $48,180 annually, with a standard 8:00 am–5:30 pm schedule Monday–Thursday and half-day Friday.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
• Working knowledge of MS Windows 10 and MS Windows 11
• Working knowledge of setting up and troubleshooting internet programs, such as e-mail and web browsers
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 software
• Working knowledge of internal PC hardware
• Ability to project a professional and congenial demeanor
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees, and the public

Responsibilities

• Staff the Drake State Helpdesk, receiving and responding to technical inquiries from faculty, staff, and students
• Enter, assign and track service requests in the on-line work-order system
• Provide technical support for hardware and software problems
• Document problems and ticket information in the Help Desk system
• Assist with desktop and laptop imaging and installation
• Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies
• Setup and maintain Drake State computer labs and network cabling
• Work with IT staff on knowledge and training
• Participate in accreditation documentation as needed
• Perform other work-related responsibilities as assigned by IT leadership
