Job Description
Folsom Education & Community Center is seeking an Academic Interventionist Substitute to provide specialized instruction in literacy and/or mathematics to students in grades kindergarten through eighth-grade.
This is an immediate opening. Substitute Assignment begins as soon as possible through November 24, 2026.
Rate of Pay: Per Diem based upon salary schedule $50,650 - $96,550, based upon education and experience.
Qualifications
- Valid Vermont Agency of Education license (elementary or secondary) with relevant endorsements preferred (e.g. 72-3, 76-3, 79-3, 82-8 or 82-12). Applicants with the ability to transfer an out-of-state license or the eligibility to obtain a Provisional License will also be considered.
- Demonstrated understanding of the best practices in reading and math instruction based upon scientific research.
- Demonstrated understanding of Professional Learning Communities, Universal Design for Learning, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, and other best practices in teaching and learning.
- Skills in collaboration, communication and problem-solving, and a willingness to be flexible
- Knowledge of the Common Core Standards and ability to teach and support with fidelity approved curriculum
Preferred Knowledge Skills
- Literacy: Orton Gillingham or Wilson Certification
- Math: Familiarity with All Learners Network tools
- Technological skills in the use of Google, Educlimber
Performance Responsibilities
- Provide intensive intervention for students who demonstrate a need in literacy and/or math.
- Administer and interpret benchmark and diagnostic assessments for the purpose of identifying and targeting students’ academic needs
- Understand and demonstrate best practices in teaching and learning. Promote and reinforce evidence-based instructional practices in the general education classroom.
- Monitor students' progress and maintain appropriate student records, data collection and program documentation following the district's local assessment plan.
- Communicate student progress effectively to teachers, students, and parents
- Implement district policies and follow school practices and procedures
- Act as a resource for staff, administrators and parents in building an understanding of foundational skill development
- Willingness to receive training as needed for position
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional development and active participation in Professional Learning Communities
- Collaborate with peers to support the district's Continuous Improvement Plan
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal
