Job summary

Grand Isle Supervisory Union is seeking an Academic Interventionist Substitute to provide literacy and/or math instruction for students in kindergarten through eighth grade at Folsom Education & Community Center in South Hero, Vermont. This immediate opening runs through November 24, 2026, with per diem pay per district salary schedule.

The role emphasizes evidence-based teaching, progress monitoring, collaboration with teachers and families, and readiness to receive training as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid Vermont Agency of Education license (elementary or secondary) with relevant endorsements preferred
• Demonstrated understanding of best practices in reading and math instruction based on research
• Skills in collaboration, communication and problem-solving and willingness to be flexible
• Knowledge of the Common Core Standards and ability to teach with fidelity to approved curriculum

Responsibilities

• Provide intensive intervention for students who demonstrate need in literacy and/or math.
• Administer and interpret benchmark and diagnostic assessments to identify and target student needs
• Promote evidence-based instructional practices in the general education classroom
• Monitor progress and maintain accurate student records per the district assessment plan
• Communicate student progress to teachers, students, and parents
• Follow district policies and procedures
• Serve as a resource for staff and parents in foundational skill development
• Willingness to receive training as needed
• Participate in Professional Learning Communities and district improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with peers to support the district's Continuous Improvement Plan
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal
