Job summary

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) invites applications for the Academic Dean of the Division of Business, Mathematics, and Technology. The dean will provide visionary leadership for teaching and learning, shape curricula, schedules, and program offerings, and oversee faculty and staff across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities include program development, budget and grants oversight, cross-divisional collaboration, enrollment strategies, and community engagement to advance student

Qualifications

• Master’s degree and teaching credentials in division disciplines.
• 3+ years community college teaching or related admin experience.
• Understanding of higher education policy and leadership experience.
• Ability to develop curricula and respond to needs.
• Team leadership and collaboration skills.
• Budget, equipment, and resource management experience.
• Leadership for accreditation or licensing processes.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Leads program and curriculum development and oversight for the division.
• Provides direction to faculty on curriculum revision and materials.
• Collaborates to review curricula, outcomes, and assessment results.
• Oversees division budget, grants, and funding opportunities.
• Fosters collaboration across divisions and with external partners.
• Directs recruitment, orientation, and evaluation of faculty and staff.
• Supports student success initiatives and community engagement.

Education

Master’s degree from an accredited institution and credentialed to teach in a discipline represented in the division.

Three or more years of community college teaching experience in an area represented in the division and/or related work experience.

Knowledge of state and national issues pertaining to higher education, administrative experience, with demonstrated leadership and management skills.

Demonstrated ability to develop courses and curricula in response to identified needs.

Proven ability to work as a team player and to build a highly effective working team

Demonstrated skill in managing budgets, equipment, and other institutional resources.

Ability to provide leadership for business or technology accreditation, certification, or licensing requirements.

Excellent oral and written communication skills
