Job summary

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) seeks an Academic Dean for the Business, Mathematics, and Technology division. The role provides visionary leadership for teaching and learning, oversees curriculum development, and guides the division's growth and success.

The position is full-time, 12-month, administrative professional, reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. PVCC offers a vibrant campus community with multiple programs and opportunities to partner with local businesses

Qualifications

• Master’s degree and credentialed to teach in the division’s represented disciplines.
• Three or more years of community college teaching or related administrative experience.
• Knowledge of state and national issues pertaining to higher education, with leadership and management skills.
• Ability to develop courses and curricula in response to identified needs.
• Proven ability to lead faculty and manage budgets and resources.
• Experience with developing and maintaining partnerships with local businesses and community organizations.

Responsibilities

• Leads the planning, development, and evaluation of the division’s course offerings and curricular programs.
• Provides direction and support to faculty in developing, revising, and evaluating division curricula, courses, and materials.
• Collaborates with faculty to review curricula, learning outcomes, assessment results, and current research for improvement.
• Oversees recruitment, appointment, orientation, assignment, and evaluation of full-time faculty and support personnel.
• Fosters a collaborative and inclusive working environment that encourages professional development.
• Prepares and manages the division budget and seeks private, state, and federal grants.
• Develops partnerships with businesses, K-12 schools, universities, and community organizations.
• Works with and supports dual enrollment faculty liaisons and recruitment efforts.
