UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) is seeking a Redwood SEED Academic Student Success Coordinator to lead academic, instructional, and student success components of the Redwood SEED Scholars Program, a four-year inclusive postsecondary education initiative for students with intellectual disabilities at UC Davis.

Job description

The Redwood SEED Academic Student Success Coordinator serves as the primary coordinator for the academic, instructional, and student success components of the Redwood SEED (Supported Education to Elevate Diversity) Scholars Program, a comprehensive four-year inclusive postsecondary education program for students with intellectual disabilities at UC Davis. The incumbent partners with students, instructors, faculty, peer mentors, families, and campus and community partners to promote student success through person-centered planning, academic advising, instructional support, and inclusive campus engagement. The position coordinates individualized academic and extracurricular plans; monitors student progress; recruits, trains, and supports Foundational Course instructors and peer mentors; collaborates with faculty to implement Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and inclusive instructional practices; teaches the Freshman Seminar; and develops training, instructional resources, and course quality processes. The incumbent also serves as the primary liaison among faculty, students, families, and campus partners to ensure coordinated support services that foster academic achievement, student independence, and successful participation in university life.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Experience working directly with students with intellectual disabilities, including the diagnostic process and determination of individualized educational programs.
  • Experience working directly with adults with intellectual disabilities in non-school settings, such as summer camps, organized sports, books clubs, etc.
  • Experience providing academic advising or guidance counseling to students with intellectual disabilities at the high school or college level.
  • Experience in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and in training others in UDL from students to faculty.
  • Working knowledge of person-centered planning and principles of self-determination.
  • Effective leadership skills, including supervising and developing staff with skill to motivate others.
  • Skill to manage multiple priorities in support of program delivery and operations.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills to carry-out assignments in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to communicate in a pleasant, tactful and effective manner (both orally and in writing), and to handle difficult, sensitive and/or confidential issues with diverse groups of individuals.
