Individual will provide academic advisement to students majoring within the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities. Academic advising includes assisting students with admissions processes, providing information on financial aid options, advising on academic program requirements (including General Education requirements), university, college and departmental policies and procedures, and academic career planning.
The Academic Advisor will help students resolve challenges regarding enrollment, retention, persistence to graduation and refer students to other WSU support services to help them achieve their academic and career goals. This individual will assist in various student recruitment and orientation events at the university, college and departmental level (e.g. Purple Carpet Events, Major Fest, Block Party, etc.), and is expected to work closely with the World Languages and Cultures Department, the Arts & Humanities Career Counselor and to assist other members of the advising team and dean’s office staff as assigned. The Advisor is expected to participate in the University Academic Advising Council ( UAAC ) and may be asked to serve on various university, college and departmental committees. Advisor may be asked to contact students flagged in the Starfish early alert system by phone or email in coordination with the Advising Coordinator during Starfish retention initiatives. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.

The annual salary for this position starts at $44,000 and may go up from there depending on candidate qualifications.
