Job Summary and Qualifications

Aligned with Galen’s mission to deliver innovative, technology-driven nursing education with strong student support, this position aims to assist students in their growth by serving as their primary contact, providing guidance and resource referrals as they progress. Advisors will develop and monitor advising plans to support student retention and program completion.

Position Responsibilities

1. Meet regularly with advisees to foster a collaborative relationship.
2. Monitor and advise at-risk students, including readmitted students, those repeating courses, or with marginal grades.
3. Collaborate with advisees to create personalized advising plans.
4. Monitor student compliance with these plans.
5. Collect data to identify issues affecting progression.
6. Assist leadership in developing and evaluating proactive student support plans.
7. Work with faculty, staff, and leadership regarding student performance and resource needs.
8. Respond to escalated alerts for assigned students.
9. Participate in orientation and success-promoting events.
10. Develop and host workshops and student resources.
11. Create and maintain advising resources collaboratively.
12. Support enrollment processes in coordination with the enrollment team and academic records.
13. Document all student interactions in the Student Information System.
14. Engage with campus leadership on retention initiatives.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field; relevant experience may substitute.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills, including remote technology proficiency. Extended hours may be required during pre-registration.
• Degree of supervision depends on experience.
