Job Summary and Qualifications

Aligned with Galen’s mission to deliver innovative, technology-driven nursing education, the Academic Advisor supports students' growth by serving as their primary contact, guiding them through their program, and assisting with retention and completion strategies.

Responsibilities

1. Meet regularly with advisees to foster a collaborative relationship.
2. Monitor and advise at-risk students, including those readmitted, repeating courses, or with marginal grades.
3. Create personalized advising plans with students.
4. Monitor student compliance with advising plans.
5. Collect data to identify issues affecting progression.
6. Develop and evaluate proactive plans addressing student concerns.
7. Collaborate with faculty and leadership on academic performance and resource needs.
8. Respond to escalated alerts for students.
9. Assist in orientation and student success events.
10. Develop workshops and student resources based on expertise.
11. Create and maintain advising resources for the college.
12. Support enrollment and academic record processes.
13. Document all interactions in the Student Information System.
14. Participate in campus retention initiatives.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field; relevant experience may substitute.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, including remote technology proficiency.
• Availability for extended hours during pre-registration.
• Degree of supervision depends on experience.
