Job summary

University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks an Assistant Director of Academic Advising to lead the Academic Resource Center (ARC) within the CHSSA Dean's Office. The role oversees advising strategies, onboarding, and training for multiple CHSSA departments, while guiding a team of academic advisors in serving 100-150 new and returning students each term.

The position partners with campus stakeholders to ensure policy adherence, student success, and timely major declarations while supporting

Qualifications

• Master's degree in related field plus 3 years of related experience working with college students in a higher education setting.
• Demonstrated ability to attend to details with a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to utilize and learn various advising and software applications, learning platforms, and technology-based delivery systems.
• Demonstrated professionalism in effective judgment and professional integrity.
• Demonstrated commitment to and execution of customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and leadership to up to six Academic Advisors and manage a caseload of 100-150 students.
• Lead onboarding and ongoing training of ARC advisors and implement advising strategies.
• Collaborate with CHSSA departments and campus partners to ensure high-quality advising services.
• Assist Director with strategic planning, policy implementation, and unit management.
• Communicate effectively via phone, video, email and in-person; support diverse student populations.
