Job summary

The candidate should have a minimum of two years in an animal facility or MOS 68T training and must obtain DOJ clearance within six months.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; at least two years in an animal facility or MOS 68T training.
• Requires DOJ clearance within six months.

Responsibilities

• Maintain qualifications to enter ABSL2, ABSL3, and ABSL4.
• Perform veterinary functions utilizing bio-hazardous substances.
• Assist in data collection and long-range planning of research support.
• Maintain knowledge of biohazard operations and systems.
• Determine appropriate animal housing per regulations within a biocontainment environment.
• Assist principal investigator and veterinarians in procedures as required.
• Provide daily husbandry including feeding and sanitation for multiple species.
• Participate in animal health checks and sample collection.
• Monitor and care for pre- and post-operative veterinary patients.
• Perform anesthetic induction and monitoring, and provide aseptic surgical support.
• Clean and set up operating rooms and surgical packs.
• Operate and maintain medical and surgical equipment.
