Job summary

Goldbelt Apex in Frederick, MD is seeking a Veterinary Technician to provide veterinary technical support across ABSL-2 to ABSL-4 containment. You will perform daily observations, administer medications, assist in procedures, collect samples, and document GLP-compliant records.

The role requires handling animals, operating laboratory equipment, maintaining safety, and supporting SOPs. US citizenship and security clearance eligibility are mandatory, with potential local travel.

Qualifications

LAT certification or higher is required or to be obtained within 12 months.
Minimum of three years’ veterinary technical experience in support of NHPs in a research setting.
Experience in ABSL-3 and/or ABSL-4 settings is highly desirable.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
US Citizenship is required.
Variable work hours including 24/7 coverage, evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance eligibility.

Responsibilities

Provide veterinary technical support to animals at all biocontainment levels during experimental and non-experimental periods IAW SOPs/protocols.
Assist in reviewing SOPs and preparation for oversight visits; help respond to remarks from inspections.
Assist Contract PM with reviewing studies and advising on resources needed to support tasks.
Ensure animals are identified and associated with specific experiments; transport animals as required.
Maintain room designations, entry procedures, and intervention in SOPs; operate veterinary equipment and document operations.
