Gersh Autism’s Academy for Young Minds (AYM) in Long Island City, Queens, is seeking an experienced Assistant Teacher for a 12-month, full-time role serving students with autism aged 5–15 in small classroom settings.

Under supervision of the Head Teacher and the BCBA, you will implement individualized curricula, collect progress data, and support student learning toward goals with ABA-based practices.

Qualifications

Experience in teaching special education students, preferably with ABA.
Understanding of needs of students with autism spectrum disorders.
Knowledge of NYS Common Core Standards.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Computer proficiency (e.g., data base, word processing).

Responsibilities

Academy for Young Minds (AYM), powered by Gersh, is seeking an experienced Assistant Teacher to join our team in one of our state-of-the-art classrooms in Long Island City, Queens. AYM is a private school for learners on the Autism Spectrum, ages 5-15 in classroom settings of 6-10 students. This is a full-time, 12-month school calendar position.

Under the supervision of the Head Teacher and the BCBA, the Assistant Teacher will provide instruction to students and help implement individualized curricular activities for each student. This individual will also support student learning through data collection on programs and progress toward goals.
