The Geneva Foundation is possibly looking for an AAT Engineering Technician to provide research support administration services in Frederick, MD.

Responsibilities
  • Generate, characterize and sample biological aerosols to support pathogenesis and medical countermeasure studies against biothreat agents. This includes animal plethysmography, aerosol supervision, and assistance. All laboratory tasks shall be conducted under the guidance of a study PI and in compliance with GLP standards, in BSL-2, BSL-3, or BSL-4 environments.
  • Assist with SOP writing, revision, and review to meet GLP requirements.
  • Assemble, maintain, and troubleshoot aerosol systems, documenting all activities. Calibrate, validate, and certify approximately 8-12 systems per year.
  • Perform and supervise biological decontamination procedures for Class III biosafety cabinets post-aerosol.
  • Certify and maintain Class III biosafety cabinets according to SOPs and standards.
  • Collaborate with AAT leadership to develop and continue technical training programs. Demonstrate proficiency and assist in training other staff.
  • Assist with data entry, chart and graph development, and manuscript or poster preparation. Present research findings at scientific conferences as required.
  • Complete annual GLP training and maintain records accordingly.
  • Complete required training in RIID-Train and other programs, maintaining records and attending external training if required.
  • Report safety or SOP non-compliance promptly.
  • Cross-train and assist with laboratory technician tasks, including assays, sample processing, and telemetry operations.
  • Perform weekly/monthly cleaning and maintenance of containment areas and laboratories, documenting all activities.
  • Notify leadership of containment restrictions and maintain CS-PRP and BPRP enrollment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering or relevant field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in BSL-2, BSL-3, or BSL-4 labs.
  • 1-2 years working with biological aerosols.
  • Experience troubleshooting aerosol systems.
  • CS-PRP and BPRP enrollment preferred.
