Aerobiology, Animal Clinical Pathology and Telemetry (AAT) Engineering Technician

Position Overview

USAMRIID, located at Fort Detrick, Maryland, collaborates with various military and government agencies to protect the Warfighter from biological threats. The role involves supporting research and development of medical countermeasures, focusing on aerosol exposures and laboratory support.

Responsibilities

• Generate, characterize, and sample biological aerosols for research studies, adhering to GLP standards and working in BSL-2, BSL-3, or BSL-4 environments.
• Assist with SOP development, review, and revision to meet regulatory standards.
• Assemble, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate aerosol exposure equipment, documenting all procedures.
• Perform biological decontamination procedures and maintain biosafety cabinets.
• Coordinate technical training and assist in data entry, analysis, and presentation of research findings.
• Complete necessary training and ensure compliance with safety and operational protocols.
• Support laboratory operations including cleaning, restocking, and safety compliance in containment areas.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years, Master's with 3-5 years, or Ph.D. with 1-3 years in a relevant field.
• At least 5 years of aerosol experience and familiarity with aerosol generating platforms.
• U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance; active clearance preferred.
• Eligibility for BPRP and CS-PRP programs; active status preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Laboratory setting; may lift up to 25 lbs.
