Job summary

Austal USA seeks an experienced welder to join our aluminum fabrication team in Mobile, AL. You will weld simple to complex aluminum components and structures, including fillets and full-penetration joints, following safety and quality requirements.

The role may involve mentoring less-skilled welders, reading blueprints, and adapting to production schedules with possible overtime. Candidates should have 1–2 years of MIG aluminum welding experience and be capable of passing the required

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience welding aluminum in varied positions and thicknesses.
  • Ability to pass A Class skills evaluation and assemble full-penetration joints.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Willingness to mentor less-skilled welders and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Weld simple to complex aluminum components and structures per specs.
  • Perform single-pass, multi-pass fillets and full-penetration joints.
  • Mentor and assist less-skilled welders and other trades as needed.
  • Maintain safe work practices and adhere to Austal USA standards.
  • Work flexibly, including overtime, to meet schedule requirements.
