Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year as a B-Class Fitter at Austal or 2 years in related industry.
• Pass approved A-Class Fitter Test for Aluminum and/or steel.
• Ability to interpret and work from construction drawings and specs.
• Proficiency with fitting aluminum and/or steel components.
• Flexibility to work any shift or overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Rig plates and equipment safely and maintain work area.
• Perform shipfitting tasks including fit-up, cutting, sanding, and gouging.
• Monitor processes and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Operate craft tools safely (grinders, torches, guages) as directed.
• Train lower-skilled workers when assigned.
