Qualifications

  • Ability to pass A Class skills evaluation test.
  • Ability to pass AL CV weld qualification test requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to weld fillets for 4mm-25mm material thicknesses.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and spatial orientation.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Weld a variety of configurations meeting safety, quality and schedule requirements.
  • Mentor less-skilled welders as assigned.
  • Maintain safe work practices and housekeeping.
  • Ensure adherence to Austal USA standards and project specifications.
  • Assist Welders, Fitters, Apprentices and Trades Assistants with daily tasks.
  • Monitor working environment for quality and safety; report deficiencies.
