Franklin County is seeking a 911 Telecommunicator Trainee for the Franklin County 911 Communications Center. The role involves receiving and evaluating 911 calls, dispatching emergency services, providing pre-arrival instructions, and coordinating EMS, fire, and police responses.

The trainee will work toward IAED telecommunicator certifications and required Franklin County training within specified timeframes, while maintaining professional communication and adherence to procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR certified required.
• Working knowledge of Public Safety communications preferred.
• Must obtain IAED 40 hour Telecommunicator training and related certifications within three months of hire.
• Complete Franklin County Act 12 training within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Receives and evaluates 911 emergency calls.
• Dispatches appropriate public safety agencies.
• Provides pre-arrival instruction and dispatches EMS/fire/police as needed.
• Coordinates emergency services response.
• Maintains radio communications with agencies and EMA.
• Maintains confidential files, logs, and paperwork.
• Operates CAD system and related equipment.
• Interacts with the public and agency staff.
