Job summary

Forsyth County in Georgia seeks an entry-level Public Safety Telecommunicator to answer and respond to calls on the 911 system. You will train in-house and progress toward independent, responsible work under supervision, handling emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch information, and coordination with agencies.

Daily duties include monitoring multiple frequencies, logging data, providing pre-arrival instructions per EMD guidelines, and assisting other jurisdictions as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; supplemented by little or no previous experience or training.
• Must successfully pass a background investigation.
• Typing speed of 35 words per minute required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
• MUST BE U.S. Citizen for POST requirements.

Responsibilities

• Receives calls on the County's emergency 911 system, including emergency TDD calls, and language lines; obtains information from callers; administers pre-arrival instructions per EMD guidelines.
• Monitors status of response; confirms incident addresses and references MSAG and maps; contacts wrecker services and utility companies as needed.
• Logs incoming calls and dispatch information into an automated system; utilizes GCIC/NCIC terminals; records information and maintains files.
• Monitors multiple radio frequencies and cameras; responds to in-person requests for services or records; assists other jurisdictions as requested.
