Job summary

Greenwood County Emergency Communications is hiring Telecommunications Officers to serve as the first point of contact during emergencies. You will answer 911 and non-emergency calls, dispatch responders, and provide crucial guidance while maintaining calm under pressure.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, strong communication, and the ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts. SCCJA E-911 training and NCIC certification are required for continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Answer and process emergency 911 and non-emergency calls.
• Dispatch law enforcement and emergency response personnel to incidents.
• Provide emergency medical instructions, including CPR and first aid guidance, when necessary.
• Monitor radio communications and coordinate information between emergency response agencies.
• Accurately document calls, incidents, and important information using computer-aided dispatch systems.
• Prioritize multiple calls and incidents while remaining calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
• Maintain accurate records and information in local, state, and federal databases.
