Job summary

Klickitat County is seeking a Casual Communications Officer In-Training for 911/Dispatch in Goldendale, WA. This non-exempt, casual role handles emergency and non-emergency calls, prioritizes incidents, and dispatches appropriate units.

You will operate radios and computer terminals, maintain logs, and coordinate with public safety agencies. Required is a high school diploma or GED and a WA driver's license; union-set wage is $25.67/hr at Step 1.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and one year of work experience in emergency or health services, law enforcement or a related field preferred.
• Washington State Driver's license required.
• Ability to learn and carry out explicit orders and to follow critical sequences of procedures.

Responsibilities

• Receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatch appropriate units.
• Operate radio, telephone, computer terminal and related equipment to relay information.
• Maintain logs of transmissions, calls and actions taken and ensure accurate records are kept.
• Coordinate with multiple agencies and ensure information is relayed to field units and Wasco/Oregon counterparts as needed.
• Assist walk‑in traffic with complaints and direct to proper agencies.
• Perform clerical duties such as typing forms and filing records.
