Job summary

WCCCA-Washington County 911 is hiring an entry-level Police Dispatcher Trainee to handle emergency and non-emergency calls, operate CAD and radio systems, and dispatch police or fire units. Training is provided and opportunities for advancement exist.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Typing ability with speed and accuracy.
• No disqualifying criminal history.
• 1 year of customer service experience.
• 1 year of computer data entry and retrieval of information.
• Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.

Responsibilities

• Receive telephone calls using complex equipment and determine the nature of the call.
• Monitor radio transmissions and dispatch units as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and logs of actions for legal purposes.
• Identify non-English speakers and use interpreters or equipment as needed.
• Work a 24/7/365 schedule including day, swing and graveyard shifts, weekends and holidays.
